You may have noticed the antagonism we've experienced here recently, and occasionally in the past, from users who post personal attacks on other users, John, John's work and family, etc. I ask you to let it go. Trust the moderators to step in and edit trollish posts into silly jokes, and please don't rise to the bait. The team can quickly diffuse this kind of posting, turning it into nothing more serious than a series of mildly amusing edits, but you can do damage by attacking back.

If another user posts unreasonable or personal attacks on anyone let a moderator or myself know. If someone expresses genuine opinions that don't tally with your own then debate those in a reasonable and intelligent manner. Don't flame, and don't take them personally. If you aren't sure run it past a moderator or myself. Attacking users, new, trollish, petty, or not, undermines the purpose of this forum. Established, long-term users will get the same treatment as the new entrants who do this.

Just bear in mind that fighting fire with fire is just going to cause a lot of smoke and damage, and achieves very little. This is John's house. If someone sets fire to the curtains you would do better to let the fire fighters put it out and clean it up, without lighting your own fires.

Enough fire analogies. Please don't feed the trolls.
