Currently playing...

Metroid Fusion
Metroid Prime Hunters
Crysis
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Heros of Mana

...lol, replaying Metroid Fusion(Metroid 4) has been alot of fun - especially when the SA-X starts hunting your sorry ass down! Its brown trousers time when you hide under the floor(thinking you've pulled the wall over its eyes, then the SA-X will morph into a ball and plant a super-bomb! O_O  The panic that ensues there after is akin to a Freshman being chased by a Senior with a nasty looking paddle!

Metroid Prime Hunters is at first a bitch to control( like playing a FPS with a WACOM tablet ) but turns into a fairly good explore-em-up-fps.  The problem with this 3D version of the Metroid series is that you dont explore one large world but six smaller planets that are set out more like a MegaManX game than a traditional Metroid.  You basically hunt down and frag a Hunter on each planet and then take on a secuity system that guards one of six artifacts that must be collected to complete the game.  This is all well and good but it feels like nothing more than a practice mode for a mulitplayer game such as Unreal Tournament 3.  Shame really, as its an incredible looking game  to look at( for a handheld title that is! ) and is somewhere inbetween Quake1 and Quake2 in 3d detail.

I got my laptop the other day! Hurrah!  Unfortunately I've just become aquainted with Grim reality: Crysis REALLY takes the piss in it's visuals. With the following specs...

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz 4MB cache
3gb Memory
250GB harddisk
Windows Vista
Gefore 8600m GT 256MB

...I bloody expect to play a new game with medium detail at 1024*768!  I mean, what fucking computer did they test this game on? A supercomputer at Nasa?!?  I mean, I've bought a new sodding machine and it still cant play Crysis properly!  Crytek, you have done shot yourself in the foot worse than Origin did with Wing Commander 3 for crying out loud.  I mean, what do these idiots expect their customers to buy: "Chuck Norris inside"?  My fucking life!

Anyway, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is a great addition to the RPG games in the series.  This one is good because you are incontrol of two characters most of the time.  You can either switch between johnathan and Charlotte, have both together or give a command to the following player such as asking them to stand on a panel so the player incontrol can enter a door.  Fairly good so far, but continue to long for a real sequel to CV:SOTN...Alucard was so damn kewl! ^_^

Actually, I havent played Heros of Mana yet as it came in the post today. Cant wait to try that out!

Sin (the original from 1999, not the episode that requires that pice of shit Steam to play)

Hot damn!!    I've just now got Sin and the 1.11 patch and it's freakin' awesome!!   The soundtrack pumps you up!  The level design is great!!!  The shotgun is the BEST shotgun in a FPS since Doom!   This is pre-ragdoll, so it's got gibs a plenty!  I'm ripping people into chunks with the shotgun!  I shot a guy in half!    The interactive environments remind me of DN3d.  It's even got interactive terminals like in Doom3.   I like how your character talks to himself.  The game has a sense of humor!   I'm using a Glide wrapper to emulate 3dfx.  It uses an upgraded Quake 2 engine.

It's all around a great FPS that captures the best of 90's FPS design.   (combine Duke Nukem 3d with Half-Life)

Also,.. I'm playing the hell out of Blood and the expansion pack "Cryptic Passages" in DosBox.   I would suggest that Monolith remake Blood,.. but it would end up sucking in order to conform with the rest of the trends in the game industry now-a-days.

  I'm also playing:

  Gex (ps1)
Duke Nukem: PLanet of the Babes (ps1)
  UT3 (pc)
  Jagged Alliance 2 (pc)
  Carmageddon 2 (pc)

Just started playing Max Payne 2 again. It's like someone made a really shitty fanfic for Max Payne and turned that into a game.

Uber Soldier : A Russian developed FPS, which was let down by poor English voice acting, and a pretty lame end boss. HOWEVER, the game is very playable, with highly detailed levels, and Nazi Zombie goodness.

UT2004 : I've never really found online play more enjoyable than this game. Unfortunately numbers are slowly dropping thanks to UT3 and other newer games.

Duke3d : Like a fine port, Duke3d is something I like to take out now and again and sip.

Waiting for:
RTCW2
Uber Soldier 2 (a UK version)
Duke Forever
Postal III  :D

Metroid
Super Metroid
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Metroid Fusion.
Metroid Zero Mission
Metroid Prime 1
Metroid Prime 2: Echos
Metroid Prime Hunters
Wii Sports
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

...as you can see I've hunted down almost every Metroid game in existance and getting a high dose of all things Metroid.  Wii Sports came as quite a surprise to me as it really is good fun.  Sure the Wii Controller is a tad off sometimes but its amazing how you can actually play Boxing, Golf etc almost like the real thing.   Hit list now is...

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
NiGHTS: Jurney of Dreams( returned my last copy remember? )
Twilight Princess
Alien Syndrome.

Already beat Quake again on Hard, but am replaying it yet again on Nightmare. Which is still not too difficult; the monsters just shoot projectiles much more frequently

I'm totally kicking orc ass in Gothic 3,.... I'm also attempting to  actually make it to the second time period in Daikatana.  (I've NEVER made it past the first period)

I'm also enjoying some new PS1 games I found on Amazon.com,..

Courior Crisis:  You're a courior on a bmx bike who zooms around city streets delivering packages to people while avoiding traffic, rabid dogs, cops and angry peds that like to drop kick you off of your bike.

Countdown: Vampires-  It's and old-school Resident Evil style game, except your some dude running around killing vampires in a Casino hotel.  Since I've played the crap out of all the PS1 RE games,.. it's nice to play a RE style game where I don't know everything.

Disruptor:   It's the first game made by Insomniac(Spyro and Ratchet &Clank)  It's a sci-fi FPS with large outdoor environments (but with fog) and cheesy real-video cinema.   But the framerate is waaaay better than any other FPS I've played on the PS1.  And it reminds me of Dark Forces with all the robots and aliens.     It also has a dynamic soundtrack that changes depending on what's happening.

Gex:  The very first Gex game.  It's like Super Mario 3 except you're a lizard who can climb walls and he makes smart ass comments all the time.  Addictive like any great platformer.

Quake on Nightmare is a joke. The enemies just shoot projectiles much more frequently, which gives them less time to move around and thus, makes them easier to hit in most cases.

Thief: Deadly Shadows

and as soon as it arrives - Boiling Point. I love the factions in that game, it really makes it realistic. There are about 7 different factions, all working against each other - but a few are allied, like the Government and the CIA. The civilians dislike the small-time thiefs, et cetera.

Great game... Bit buggy though.
