What are everyone's favorite instruments?

I love synths. And the theremin is pretty cool too.

Me, personally, I love electric guitars. Preferably Gibson or Fender (or, for thrash metal, Dean or Jackson!). I love how many different sounds you can get by just sitting around and bending strings or trying unofficial chords (WEIRD sounding stuff. I also like how you can totally change the sound the guitar makes using distortion boxes and various PC software programs.

Ooh, I'm going to try to get an Epiphone SG soon. My Strat, even with distortion, doesn't have the exact capacity to sound like it has Humbucker pickups. That's the sad reality with single-coil pickups (although they're perfect for Hendrix or Led Zeppelin songs!)

Haha, electric guitars DO kick ass. It gets harder to play with nails though. I just fixed the strings on mine too. :S

Lol something I love to do, especially if exact tuning doesn't matter because I'm about to re-tune the guitar, is to tune down the strings so much that the strings are completely slack, then try to play a song! It's hard to get any sound out of the guitar then (aside from a demonic sounding tune)

Why let the strings go slack? Keep 'em taught!

Well, the strings get slack after a while, so I just decide to tune it all the way down, then re-tune it. Trust me, I keep those strings pretty well-tuned (at least, I always tune down 1.5 steps form standard tuning.

It gives it a darker, more doomy sound. A lot of the music I listen to was recorded with the guitar tuned down 1.5, so that's how the songs I play are supposed to sound.

I vote for the electric guitar too. I've got a a Fender Starcaster (a squire-esque stratabe) with a humbucker. It's plays fine and I'm a pretty cheap guy. I like to play Nirvana and old Metallica. But, if I ever start making big bucks, this is the guitar I want:

http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0100800806

It's has a pretty weird shape and those kind of pickups are called soap box, tho I have no idea how they sound. I just want it. :)

nice... On eBay, I almost won a Gibson SG with all of the AC/DC album covers designed on the body. It was nice, but it just got too expensive.

I finished elementary musical school and I play cello (violoncello). I also compose some music on my own, but my project is still far away, since i am mostly interested in so-called "cyber" and "futuristic" music whoch bears ABSOLUTLY nothing similiar to commercial stuff.

I am making some EBM-Industrial currently.

My musical idols are: http://www.myspace.com/aslanfactionuk

Eh, back to topic. Yes: I play cello, but my favorite instrumen is - NOISE. A pure NOISE. A DISTORTION. Industrial stuff style...
