Good point.
Also, good to see more Quake II ports. I love that game; I recently beat it again from beginning to end. It's damn easy, but fun as hell.

There are a lot of ports of old games for the DS. There's even a Doom port!
Now, I think that one of the best DS games out there are from the Phoenix Wright series. If you like adventure games, you're on the right track.
Another great game is Sonic Rush Adventure. Excellent game. Really fun to play, and has a much higher replay value, if compared to Sonic Rush.

I have Quake 1 an Doom in my DS
. Quake 2 won't be bad, but currently it seems to be very slow. However that was the initial case with Quake 1 too, i'm sure the developer will fix this
.

Also, I heard around a year ago that and official port of Q3 was being made for the DS. Is that true? o.O

Yeah, the DS can't run games with those kinds of graphics.

After passing up the Wii I was wondering if the DS Metroid Prime game was any good? Has it got a solid Single player mode?

Just ordered 4 DS games for just under £75.
Metroid Prime Hunters
CastleVania: Portrait of Ruin
Heros of Mana
Children of Mana
Tommorow I shall pick up a Silver lite DS for £90 most likely along with some other games like StarFox command or Sonic Rush. And to top it off I have the whole weekend off work! ^_^

You're working on an engine, Sec? An engine for a possible DS emulator?
Man, I just got my DS Lite tonight and its bloody nice. Havent recieved my DS games yet but I've been playing Metroid Fusion and I have to say the screen quality walks all over my old GBA. I'm also over the moon that it comes with a built-in battery and AC adapter plug. From what I've seen of Metroid Prime Hunters the DS is capable of 3D as well so I cannot wait to try that out! ^_^
I think the only beef I have with the DS is that it isnt compatible with the original Gameboy carts. Thinking about it though the original GB came out in 1989 which is almost 20 years ago - I suppose you just have to get over it and move on. But it would have been nice to have tried out my copy of Metroid 2: Return of Samus on a spanking new screen. Saying that, I would totally welcome a DS Metroid quad-pack of Zero Mission, a Metroid2 remake, Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. That would be the most awesome cart ever. And hell, a DS version of Metroid Prime and MP: Echos as an unlockable bonuses for good measure! ^_^
God, I must stop dreaming...

You can get a GameBoy Micro, which has screens similar to DS in terms of quality.
I'm making a 3D engine for DS.
