Hehe I just found the original Dangerous Dave online, the same game I played on IBM Pc Jr. when I was like 10. It took about an hour, but I remembered all the old tricks and warp zones. It's still as fun now as it was back then!

I've always wondered: what do the letters PCR made out of weirdweeds on level 2 mean?

You know, if i made a new DD using a 3d engine and all, i couldn't call it "Dangerous Dave" because that name is CHEESY!

So, it would have to remain an underground game....... :)

YES YES YES - i need to make the Dave page!!! AAAAiiiiiieeeeee!!!!

Yes, new Dangerous Dave games would be cool.  8)

Dangerous Dave in Ankle-Deep in the Undead!!

A new FPS from John Romero. Dave's brother Delbert and his girlfrield Coralee have been kidnapped while Dave was away! Returning home, Dave finds a note proclaiming the evils of his nemesis. Picking up his great grandfather's old sixshooter and the trusty shotgun of games past, Dave sets off on a new adventure to reclaim his abducted family members!

I just read the wikipedia article about Dangerous Dave.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dangerous_Dave
"Dangerous Dave is a hugely popular game in India's school system. Although computer technology in the schools lags significantly behind those found in more modernized states, the original PC version of Dangerous Dave is often within the limits of what is playable."

Now.. how cool is that?  :)  I also remember John once wrote something about a letter he recieved from a Dangerous dave fan living in India or was it Pakistan? But I am not able to refind the url.
I mean it's kind of sad that their configuration is so aged but in my Inner Geek mind I am also realy amazed. It's some kind of time machine. Remember it.. a country where one of the games you created 15 years ago is kind of a top hit.

The only way to get Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion is to buy he OOP Id Anthology, or get it from Softdisk.
