Yup, in the actual game release itself, there is nothing that ever says anything about the character's name, unless you consider "You" or "Your" or anything like that a name.

When I hear the name "Flynn", I immiedatly think of the Flynn in the movie Tron. Although Tron is a kickass classic, I just don't see the Flynn character chasing demons with a chainsaw.. more like.. eating Fig Newtons and combing his hair instead.

Over in the doomworld fanfic forums, we came up with the name Russell Cartwright (would have been at least a year ago now), so I've been using that for all my Doom maps. Well, I hope John agrees it's less gayer than Flynn Taggart at least |

I like it so much better if he doesn't have a name, just "The Doom Marine." I also like that he doesn't even say anything throughout the game except for grunts. Mute characters are always cool. That's one of the great things about Chrono Trigger. Who did the voice effects for The Doom Guy, anyway?
