John, are there any differences between the content of HDB v1.2 and the version that you could buy from the Monkeystone site?

And do you know how much longer will the site feature the "original" release for those who bought it? I need to re-download the game, since a certain young brother of mine just deleted one of the partitions of my disk where HDB was... :)

You won't need to get the original version - you'd be downloading v1.2 for free soon.  That will replace your v1.0.

It's still in test - I fixed 2 bugs already.

It is a mistake to look at 3D as the natural progression or upgrade from 2D.  2D, like 3D, is a medium with its own qualities and detriments.  There are places where 3D is a must, others where 2D is better suited.  You can admire a paintings and sculpures, but you really can't compare Leonardo's paintings to Michelangelo's sculptures.  Apples to oranges I say!

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is probably a good example of this.

...but yes the news that we're releasing it as freeware is what i was hinting at.

In a strange way this somehow makes me feel guilty for not having bought it yet. I kept thinking I'd wait until I had time to play it. Heh.

I've reinstalled XP twice on my system lately and now it's pretty much rock-solid.  So, I'll install VS.NET again and prepare to fix more bugs.

Our internal bug testing has reveal no bugs so far.....would any of you like to test it? :)  Send me an email to john@rome.ro and I'll respond with a link to the v1.2 version of HDB.  If you find a bug, email me screenshots if possible and a description of the bug.

Oh John, do you still involve in programming? What language are you
using? C or C++?

I have read some articles mentioning that you've been programming
since very young, and in the credit section in DOOM II also crediting
you as Software Engineer, along with John Carmack. However, most
people regard John Carmack as a legendary programmer. I wonder,
why is John Carmack so good in programming? Is he really smarter
than anyone else? Since you've been working with him for quite some
time, you must know that. Is he hard working than anyone else? Or
he is just simply smarter? Or both?

What does it take to be a legendary programmer like John Carmack?

Thanks

How is the latest version of HDB coming? I'd love to have bought the game way back when, but I didn't have money (I still don't have money as a matter of fact). I look forward to the freeware release - whenever it decides to come out.

(I'd hate to waste my first post on this forum for just sounding like an impatient bastard, but...)

That's the problem with first impresstions... You only get one. :-)

I've been playing HDB for a few days now on my main iPAQ and I'm hooked. One thing I dislike though is having to reload a savegame because I've screwed up a puzzle half way. But I guess it prolongs my enjoyment of the game. I've encountered neumerous crashes and all, but the game makes up for that. :-)

In case I'm still stuck at this part several days later, can anyone tell me what to do in that water cavern in puzzle mode? Those faeries are confusing... I need those crates out of the ground damnit!
