I would buy an N-Gage if it was under $100 and you didn't have to get a screwdriver and change the battery everytime you want to play a different game.
I wonder how much Nokia paid people in their marketing division.

The problem I have with the N-gage is that the controls SUCK. Because they are all numbers and it is easily forgotton which is the "start" button. Thank god I dont have one. Too bad my friend has one

I might buy an N-Gage if it was the same price as the GBA, didn't require a battery removal every time you wanted to play a game, if it's games weren't already cracked, if talking into it wasn't like talking into a taco, if it didn't crash every 3 minutes, and if it had decent titles.

The PDA version of Red Faction is indeed much worse than the PC version.

N-Gage is a piece of crap itself; the games cost a bit too much I think. OTOH.. getting so cool graphics on stuff like that.. Anyway, Gameboy Advance is better I think.

I don't use that portable stuff, so you know

The price for the N-gage is not thaat expensive. At least not higher than for any other modern mobile phone. And as you usually buy them combined with a contract which binds you for 1-2years you only have to pay 1€.
But I don'T use my mobile that often that a contract with a monthly fee would pay. Another point is that I agree that the N-gage games are too expensive. But you can get them for very few money at ebay cause nobody owns a n-gage.

I just got an N-Gage today for $200 including 3 games in that price.     And this first generation N-Gage is just the beginning. Nokia is very serious about owning the handheld gaming market that right now Nintendo owns.

Here's an article about the N-Gage...I know Nada personally.  I know that Nokia is very serious indeed.

If Nokia takes the handheld gaming market serious, they should take it really serious.
The N-Gage is a bad joke. The standby time of that thingy is too short, when you play, no way to easy change the game you want to play, and the extraordinary prices for the games. I mean 45 € for a handheld game ? Hell i can get one of the latest titles for my PC for that money.
They should think again about these things. Then, and only then they can stand in this market.
Otherwise, they will be crushed by Sonys upcoming PSP.

Well, like I said before, Nokia takes this market very seriously.  They can afford many failures as they own 40% of the world cellular market.

In fact, the N-Gage will be the world's first gaming platform that gets upgraded every 6 months!     Just wait for an announcement from Nokia on a new model soon.  Oh, and cheaper.  And you put the cart in like you should.  And you don't talk on it like a taco.  Etc. Etc.

I don't think it'll last long enough for that new version to be released.  I could buy a Gamecube and Gameboy Advance for the same price, and then use the leftover cash to buy a game.

Just look at what happend when SNK tried to go against Game Boy Color with the Neo-Geo Pocket Color.  The Neo-Geo was much more powerful, had loads of excellent games, could hook up to Dreamcast with some games, and cost about the same price as a GBC.  I think that system stood a bigger chance against Nintendo than N-Gage does.

I'm worried about Sony's friggin' PSP haulin' butt... not only is it a portable powerhouse, but it has the name "Sony" on it.
To the average gamer...
Sony = Playstation.
Playstation = Good.

Unless the Big N's got a biiiig ace up their sleeve, or can provide an overwhelming amount of popular titles for the next-gen Gameboy, they've got some tough competition ahead of 'em.

SNK was a small joke of a company. Nokia dominates the cellular market and makes several billion dollars a year. Nokia is committed to owning the handheld market.  There is no such thing as the N-Gage "making it" until the next version.  It cannot go away because Nokia will not let it go away.

The PSP isn't a cell phone, either. Convergence is the key. The GameBoy came out when no one had cell phones + Nintendo doesn't know how to make a cell phone.

Soon, you'll have your credit card in your cell phone and be able to use it wirelessly. Already, the world is gearing up for wireless credit cards themselves and the next step beyond that is to embed that information in the one device you will always have on you: your cellphone.

The camera is already becoming a staple of cellphones, and so will gaming be.  Convergence.

I'm one of the people who don't take handhelds very seriously, i'd see that games are things you do when you have the time to fully enjoy them like at home sitting in your underware on your day off. Seeing the whole handheld market take off not only in handhelds, but cell phones and all that I see it as a big waste of money and not to mention the fact that'll i'll end up hurting my neck looking down at these things.

but to tell you the truth the N-gage looks like a product of a gameboy and a cellphone got it on in a old hotel. Like what one of the people at the EGM Forums said. "Look I made my own N-Gage!"

Yeah, I wouldn't of said anything but I thought that this was Halarious!
